Something Old, Something New

With New and Returning Acts, Spencer Fair Marks 118th Year

SPENCER - Worcester County residents have plenty to look forward to this Labor Day weekend, with the Spencer Fair introducing several new acts and bringing back some of the old favorites.

The 118th Spencer Fair, which will be held from Friday, Sept 1, to Monday, Sept 4, will feature action, comedy and old-fashioned family fun on its 28-acre grounds off of Route 31. Festivities will kick off early at the Midway where carnival rides will open on Thursday, Aug 31, 5 to 9.p.m.

"There's actually alot of new attractions this year," said Gorda MacKay of MacKay Marketing, an outside firm marketing for the fair.

Fairgoers shouldn't miss Winn's Galazy of Thrills, a new act in which the female daredevil Galaxy Girl will perform stunts on a 127-foot pole, MacKay said. No nets or safety devies are involved in the trapeze act actop the worlds tallest sway pole, he added. The performance will take place at least twice a day throughout the lon weekend. Also visiting the fair for the first time will be Mark Bennick, an illusionist who has been performing Las Vegas for seven years.

Magic boy
"Count The Cash," the new daytime game show that is looking to establish itself at Greek Isles, has added magic.

Mark Bennick, whose stage name is The Prince Of Magic, is to our knowledge the youngest magician professionally performing in Las Vegas. He is 18.

Bennick warms up the Greek Isles studio audience before the game begins.

His first gig was in the showroom at Fitzgerald's downtown.

We would not be surprised to see his name on his own Vegas showroom one day.
